Parents are invited to attend the annual BHS Open House on Wednesday, September 11. An introductory meeting starts at 6:00 pm in the auditorium and class visits begin at 6:30 pm. Parents will follow their child’s schedule with a brief stop in each class. I’m looking forward to meeting parents and sharing information about BC, SL, and HL.
Assignment calendars have been posted for the fall semester for IB Math SL. The dates and assignments are subject to change.
Updated calendars are now available for the entire year for AP Calc BC and IB Math HL. Incoming students may want to browse through these calendars to preview assignments and test dates. Please note that these calendars are subject to change.
IB Math SL students should check back in the upcoming weeks for assignment calendars.
I have updated the AP Calculus BC exam data to include global grade distributions to compare to our school. I am happy to report that the mean score of 4.11 is the fourth highest my students have accomplished in the 14 years I’ve been teaching BC at BHS. Although the percentage of “fives” was lower than the past few years, the percentage of “ones” and “twos” was very low.
I hope that you feel like your score reflects your efforts and understanding of the content. If your score does not allow you to earn college credit/placement, you have at least had excellent exposure to calculus topics and should be able to do very well if you have to retake first and/or second semester calculus.
Congratulations to all of you who did so well!
It’s the middle of summer, but I’m busy making plans for the 2013-14 school year. I’ll be teaching AP Calculus BC, IB Math SL, and IB Math HL. My current website is http://home.comcast.net/~mazzoni_bhs/, but I will be adding content to this new site regularly. I plan to complete the transition before the start of school on August 26. Enjoy the remaining weeks of summer!
